What is a Capuchin Poor Clare?

She is a woman who has centered her life around the contemplation and praise of God. She is a woman who chooses to live in silence and solitude, adhering faithfully to the spirit of Saint Francis and Saint Clare of Assisi. She is a woman who unites herself to the crucified Christ through love and the forgetfulness of her own self-interests. She is a simple woman, spontaneous in the communal relationships with her sisters in religious life. She is a woman who embraces poverty and austerity and is open to the reality of the Church and the needs of humanity.

Formation in Our Way of Life

The period of formation to our Way of Life is of 9 years minimum: one year of Aspirancy, one year of Postulancy, in which the new candidate discerns her vocation and prepares to Novitiate, completing her Christian formation and learning more about the vocation of a Capuchin Poor Clare Sister.

The period of Novitiate is of two years for the candidate to experience more and more the life, embracing in a deeper way all the aspects of our contemplative consecrated life and preparing for Profession. The novices wear a simple habit and white veil.

There are at least 5 years of temporary vows before the perpetual Profession.
During this period, the young religious continue their formation assuming full responsibility as committed members of the Order. At the first Profession the sister receives the full habit and black veil.

The perpetual or solemn Profession, after the time of temporary vows, is the public declaration of the total commitment to God sealed by the acceptance by the Church, receiving the ring of spouse of Christ.
